these are by miranda zimmerman as part of their exhibition at the antler gallery called "slither!" i want one so badly, but sadly original paintings go for a lot of money and i do not have it :,) most of them are already sold anyway. if only capitalism did not exist
i like how the top one, microraptor, looks kind of like those scratch-off gradient canvases i'd mess with as a kid. i think that might actually be what it is, but i'm not sure because when i zoom in it looks like it's painted. i guess i'd have to see it in person to be sure, but either way it looks stunning! i'm a big fan of weird hybrid creatures, and i love the idea of putting a legless noodle creature and the only known animal with four wings together.
i love the way the scale pattern is done on cobra (bottom one). i always have trouble getting scale patterns to look right, so i'm always impressed when they're done this well lol. the back of the hood is especially cool because the scales kind of make it look like the marking is bleeding apart in the same way the snake's body is. i wonder what's making the snake start to fall apart, is it cut by the coral-like stuff around it? or maybe it's becoming the coral. who knows?
either way i'm not sure if these pieces are meant to have a deeper meaning, i just think they're visually very cool and of course snake related so they're going here lol
